Three people were arrested in the Netherlands last Wednesday as part of investigations into two attacks on cash machines in Luxembourg. Specifically, the investigations focused on an incident in Eischen on 20 May 2026, and an incident in Vianden on 28 July 2026. In both cases, the perpetrators were unable to steal money.
In a statement from the public prosecutor's office, the Luxembourg judicial police, more precisely the organised crime department, worked closely with their colleagues from the Netherlands. It also states that as part of the investigations, the police also carried out a number of searches, and the suspects were also interviewed by the authorities.
The statement does not specify whether and when the suspects will be extradited to Luxembourg. "This operation once again illustrates the effectiveness of international judicial and police cooperation as well as the importance of close collaboration between judicial authorities and investigative services in the fight against cross-border organised crime," the public prosecutor's office said.

45 employees will be affected as Zara in Kirchberg will close at the end of January 2027.
The Spanish clothing chain has outlets in the Cloche d'Or and Belle Étoile shopping centres, as well as the store in Kirchberg. Summer 2021 was the last time Zara closed down a store in Luxembourg, when the Grand Rue outlet in Luxembourg City closed its doors.
