Short Track 4 Luxembourg athletes in Montreal for Junior World Cup

RTL Today
Last weekend, four young athletes from Luxembourg were in Canada to show off their skills on an international stage.

On the 1,500 metre track, a fall and a penalty meant that the Luxembourg team wasn’t in the best position, but Anna Ruysschaert and Peter Murphy still came in 42nd and 66th.

In 2017, Peter Murphy scored Luxembourg’s first ever European Youth Olympic Festival gold medal in the 1,500 metres race, before winning the silver medal in the 500 metre race the next day.

The 500 metre race at the Junior World Cup in Montreal was a quite successful discipline for Luxembourgers Caroline Murphy and Anna Ruysschaert. They made it to 31st and 39th place respectively.

In the men’s race, Augustin Géré and Peter Murphy made it to 32th and 34th place out of 76.

In the 1,000 metre race, Peter Murphy got in 27th place while Augustin Géré made it to 33rd place.

A new world record was set in Montreal by American athlete Maame Biney on the 500 metre track. She took only 43.212 seconds from start to finish.
