Luxembourg's women's team won silver and bronze medals at the European Student Championship in Forestry Skills in Austria, taking silver in the relay event and bronze in the combination cutting event.

Luxembourg impressed at the 22nd European Student Championship in Forestry Skills held in Lendorf, Austria, with Tina Bigdowski securing a bronze medal in the combination cutting event and the women's team claiming silver in the national team relay competition.

The championship took place from 19 to 22 May in the Austrian state of Carinthia and brought together 22 teams from 17 countries.

Luxembourg was represented by both a men's and, for the first time, a women's team from the Lycée Technique Agricole in Gilsdorf.

The Luxembourg women performed particularly strongly in the technical chainsaw disciplines.

Men's team narrowly miss win

The men's team also impressed in the forestry course competition. After completing 16 stations testing skills such as botanical and zoological knowledge, calculating tree heights and timber volumes, and carrying out a first-aid simulation, they narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

Alongside the sporting competitions, the event also focused on cultural exchange. During the "International Evening" organised as part of the championships, the Luxembourg delegation presented culinary specialities from the Grand Duchy, including Rieslingspaschtéit, honey, and cheese, while exchanging traditions and products with participants from other countries.

The next edition of the European Student Championship in Forestry Skills is expected to take place in the Netherlands in 2027, and Luxembourg hopes to take part once again.
