It was a particularly rewarding weekend for Luxembourg’s swimming talent Pit Brandenburger: the 23-year-old set a new national 200m freestyle record after improving the old record of Raphael Stacchiotti by three one hundredths of a second.

Stacchiotti had set the record back in 2008. Brandenburger finished sixth overall in the competition.

27-year-old Raphael Stacchiotti also walked away with the personal best result he had in 200 metres individual medley since the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.

Monique Olivier gave a similarly excellent performance, setting a new personal best in 100 metres freestyle.

Jacques Schmitz qualified for the European Junior Swimming Championships and Remi Fabiani also set a new personal best in 100 metres backstroke.
