A young man received an 18 month suspended sentence and a driving ban in court on Wednesday afternoon, concluding the case of a fatal road accident in June 2017.

The accident occurred between Schouweiler and Limpach.
The defendant also received a €3,000 fine and three driving bans for a total of 51 months, including 21 suspended.

He was also ordered to pay nearly 100,000 euros in damages to seven members of the victim's family. The judge ordered the confiscation of the vehicle.

In June 2017, the man had lost control of his vehicle on a bend and collided with a tree. His passenger died on the spot.

At the time of the accident, the defendant had a blood alcohol level of about 1.75 and traces of cannabis were found in his blood.
