Contaminated soil is the reason the trees need to go. But this means the river bed can be widened in this spot, says Lydie Polfer.

32 trees will be cut down in the Pétrusse valley on Friday, it was announced at the CityBreakfast press conference. Contaminated soil was discovered during the re-naturation works, leading to the decision.

Lydie Polfer stressed that the trees will be replaced elsewhere. A positive aspect of the development is that the Pétrusse river bed can now be widened in this area. The works are coming along well, the mayor said, and the recent discovery has no impact on the time scale.
