
Thirteen officers participated in the operation, using mobile radar equipment to check motorists’ speed.
Around a third of the drivers on the roads in that time were observed to be speeding over the limit. 530 people will therefore be receiving fines in the post over the next few days.
Police patrols also checked the passing vehicles for other infractions, observing around 30 motorists failing to respect the rules of the road. 16 drivers were seen using their mobile phones at the wheel, while six were not wearing seatbelts. Another did not have the right security tools in their vehicle, while several others were also stopped for smaller infractions.
