During targeted police operations carried out on Wednesday and Thursday in Luxembourg City and on the A3 motorway near Dudelange, officers recorded 70 traffic offences. Among these, 26 drivers received fines of €250 and four penalty points for using their mobile phones while driving.
Ten motorists were fined €49 each for sounding their horns or flashing their lights without a valid reason. Police also reported that two drivers could not present valid driving licences, and one motorcycle was seized during the checks.
Additionally, police conducted nationwide controls focusing on soft mobility, primarily targeting e-scooter and fatbike users. In total, 102 e-scooters and 11 fatbikes were checked, and 38 offences were identified. In 10 cases, vehicles were seized because they were being used at excessive speeds.
Police also issued 10 fines for other violations, such as two minors riding together on an e-scooter, including a child under the age of 10. Additional infractions included riding on pavements, using headphones, or handling a mobile phone while operating the vehicle.
In two incidents, driving licences had to be confiscated, including one case where a driver refused to submit to an alcohol test.
Separately, in the early hours of Friday, police responded to a call in Rumelange after reports of a heated argument between a man and a woman in a flat. The man had already left the premises and was found by officers standing in the middle of the road.
As he posed a danger to himself and others and repeatedly ignored police instructions to leave the road, he was taken into custody. The police report that the man was heavily intoxicated.
