The fire brigade arrived mid-morning to put out a fire which had broken out in rue Ermesinde.
Said street was still closed just before noon while fire workers were trying to extinguish the blaze of a washing machine which had caught fire.
By 12.15 the rescue team had managed to regain control and left with the defective appliance.
