The National Roads Administration confirmed in a press release on Monday that the A3 motorway would be closed in several places from Friday 21 May until Monday 24 May. These closures are necessary for the construction of the new railway line that will link Luxembourg and Bettembourg.

A roadblock has been imposed in both directions between Croix de Gasperich and Croix de Bettembourg. These roadblocks were put in place on 8pm on Friday and will remain in place until 6am on Monday.

The National Roads Administration announced that the motorway will be closed between Croix de Bettembourg and Croix de Gasperich coming from the Gluck roundabout and towards the French-Luxembourgish border.

The A3 will also be blocked in the other direction on this same stretch of motorway coming from the Franco-Luxembourgish border and heading towards the A6 and A1 motorways.

The access roads of Croix de Bettembourg coming from the A13, the Livange interchange coming from the N31, and Croix de Gasperich coming from the A1 and A6 will also be closed to traffic.

Consequently, the access to the Shell and Aral service stations at the Berchem service area is closed from Friday 6 pm and 8 pm respectively until  6 am on Monday.

Traffic will be diverted in both directions via the A13, A4 and A6 motorways. The National Roads Administration also warned that preparatory work to close the motorway may cause disruption in the hours before the closure.
