According to initial information from the Moselle fire brigade's operations centre, "this is a road accident involving a single light vehicle".
"One driver, who was critically wounded, was evacuated by helicopter at 9.55am", confirms France's Interdepartmental Directorate of Eastern Roads (DIR-Est).
The accident occurred before 9am between the Kinépolis exit in Thionville and the Entrange rest area, towards Luxembourg. The traffic jam goes on right until the entrance to Thionville.
The A31 has been closed according to Info trafic Lorraine et frontières. Drivers are thus required to take exit 43 at Kinépolis. This is still true at 10am.
On the other hand, in the direction Luxembourg-Thionville, the A31, which was closed for a while at the Kanfen slip road, has been reopened to traffic.
