Alain Becker has been relieved of his duties as head of the Civil Security Directorate with immediate effect, the Ministry of Home Affairs confirmed when contacted by RTL. The Ministry declined to give further details about the reasons behind this personnel decision.

However, ministry officials clarified that Becker will remain in his post as president of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) until his mandate expires.

Earlier this summer, the general directorate was criticised for its communication regarding smoke from wildfires in Belgium's High Fens nature park that drifted across Luxembourg.
