Earlier that same day, the Luxembourg bicycle initiative "ProVelo.lu" had published a statement on their Facebook page, calling on the authorities to create bicycle lanes that would guarantee the safety of cyclists.
The initiative also reminded both motorists and cyclists to be mindful of each other and pointed out that in the case of a collision, cyclists are much more susceptible to injuries.
The statement was published in the context of three recent accidents, all involving cyclists being hit by cars. Among them was professional cyclist Claire Faber, who was seriously injured on Wednesday.
