Ongoing investigationBereldange murder trial date to be set

RTL Today
According to RTL sources, access to foreign-based servers are required to follow up the suspect's statement.

An international rogatory commission has been launched as part of the investigation, so that Luxembourg courts can verify claims that have been made as part of the case.

The prosecution said on Wednesday that the investigation was still ongoing. Three years ago, Bereldange was the site of a large police operation, when a policeman was suspected of the murder of his sister and her partner.

According to a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office, the national part of the investigation has now been closed, but verification is ongoing at an international level. Investigators are looking at information regarding the suspect acquiring poison on the Darknet and what exactly was used.

The information was not discovered on the suspect's computer. This has rendered it difficult to predict a date for the trial, as it is pending awaiting the information from abroad.

REMINDER OF THE CASE

On 25 September 2016, the bodies of a young woman and her partner were found in a Bereldange flat.

At the time, the prosecutor's offices confirmed that a toxicological analysis had found traces of toxins in both victims.

Three days after the bodies were discovered, a vast search operation was conducted in the area. The next day, a policeman aged 26 was arrested on suspicion of having poisoned his sister and her boyfriend. He has been held in pre-trial detention ever since.
