
The Covid variant first identified in Britain (B.1.1.7) accounted for 80% of all samples tested in week 17. Around 10% were attributed to the South African mutation (B.1.351), while 2.6% were found to be the Brazilian variant P.1.
According to the report, 678 samples were sequenced, 588 of which were dated in week 17 of the calendar year. This equates to around 52.6% of all positive test samples.
