
The week before, 1,231 out of 54,045 tests were positive. During that same period, nine people died after contracting Covid-19, four more than the week before. The average age of deceased patients was 76. Hospitalisations have meanwhile gone down with 13 fewer patients in normal care than during the previous week (58 versus 71), and 2 more in intensive care (36 versus 34).
The reproduction rate was at 0.93, while the test positivity rate was at 2.2%. For prescribed tests, the positivity rate has declined from 6.27 to 5.32%.
The incident rate has meanwhile continued to decrease from 194 to 176 out of 100,000 residents per seven days. The biggest decline was recorded in the age group over 75 years (-41%). For people aged between 60 and 74, the tally has dropped by 25%.
Last week, a total of 2,734 people entered isolation (-4%) and 3,641 entered quarantine (+28%).
When it comes to the virus transmission, the majority of new cases occurred within family circles (42.2%), followed by schools (4.8%), work (4.7%), and recreational activities (3.7%). Cases with unknown transmission origins represent 39.8%.
Last week, a total of 21,750 vaccine doses were administered, out of which 3,891 were second doses.
When it comes to coronavirus variants, the British one remains the most prevalent one at 85.3% of cases, followed by the South African mutation (10.4%), and the Brazilian one (1.2%). Three cases of the Indian variant have also been recorded.
