The would-be burglar was surprised by one of the residents during his attempt to gain entry to a house in Pétange. He subsequently fled, but police officers caught up with him on Route de Luxembourg, thanks to a description of the suspect.
The suspect tried to escape police again but was stopped by officers. A search of his backpack revealed tools to assist with breaking and entering. He was arrested and brought before an investigating magistrate.
