The driver of the car appeared to lose control at the Mertert exit, going through barriers and blocking the access ramp to the A1 motorway.
The impact was such, that the vehicle was thrown back on the road, consequently blocking both lanes. Paramedics treated the driver at the scene for injuries, before he was taken to hospital.
Due to the activity by the emergency services and the air ambulance, the access ramp was blocked in both directions for an hour. The accident caused plenty of material damage.
Grevenmacher-Mertert first responders were joined by their colleagues from Manternach, as well as emergency medical assistance teams (Samu), the air rescue helicopter, officials from the Roads and Bridges Association and local police patrols.
