The amount of viral traces that can be found in children's respiratory systems are equal for all age groups. This is a conclusion arrived at by virologist Christian Drosten and his team of researchers at the Berlin Charité.
If the research is correct, children could pose the exact same level of infection risk as adults. However, the scientist emphasised that other studies have demonstrated the opposite. The team's results still need to be peer-reviewed.
Children often display fewer symptoms, such as coughing, which can also be traced back to their reduced lung capacity.
