
The key requirement to make a life with the virus possible, CSV argued, is an exit strategy that promotes clarity, coherence, equal treatment. Softening the blow to the economy and a balanced Covid-19 law are also paramount, the main opposition party said.
Party president Fränk Engel and fraction president Martine Hansen demanded a steady return to normality and the reopening of smaller shops. The party representatives explained that the closures had been the right measure to take but highlighted that it was now time for further reopenings.
Frank Engel demanded clear instructions regarding the stay-at-home maxim. According to the party president, the public understands that large parties remain illegal. He nevertheless showed himself in favour of allowing smaller family celebrations for special occasions such as birthdays.
Martin Hansen meanwhile stressed that the reopening of schools this Monday morning should have been better prepared. She criticised that many pressing questions remain open. Teaching staff and school representatives should have been involved more in the discussions with the ministry, she added. Hansen highlighted that the various trade unions issued a joint statement criticising the lack of cooperation. She concluded that the Minister of Education should not be stubborn and instead listen to those who are working at the frontline.
There was no reason for final year pupils to head back to schools this Monday, the veteran CSV leader stressed.
