
The defence had previously demanded integral parole, i.e. a suspension of the prison sentence, tied to conditions.
“The suspension with probation is a bit longer in this case at three years, which is not what we demanded; the suspension with probation and therapeutic follow-up must come first,” says the defendant’s lawyer Suzy Gomes Matos.
The defendant is required to pay €20,000 in damages to the victim as well as €5,000 to each parent. For a period of ten years, he is not allowed to work or complete voluntary service where he could come into contact with minors. Additionally, he must continue going to therapy.
The verdict can be appealed for the next 40 days.
