Around 200 people gathered in Luxembourg City on Saturday afternoon to call for radical changes to the country's approach to protecting children from violence.

The demonstration, organised by Amnesty International, the non-profit Innocence en danger, and La Voie des survivants, sought to raise awareness of what participants describe as urgent failings in the current system.

The organisers argue that victims and their families are often not believed when reporting suspicions of abuse, and that the legal process in Luxembourg is far too slow to protect children adequately.

They also cited official figures indicating that, on average, one complaint of child rape is filed each week in the Grand Duchy, which, according to them, underscores the need for immediate and radical action.
