
At around 5am on Saturday, police were alerted to a collision between two cars at the Gluck roundabout. One of the drivers tested positive for alcohol. It also emerged that he was already subject to a driving ban. His vehicle was seized on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office. Both drivers were taken to hospital for treatment. The road was temporarily closed to traffic following the accident, and forensic police attended the scene.
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, police received reports of a driver in Bous who had first been driving in a zigzag pattern and then at a very low speed before eventually stopping in the middle of the road. Officers later located and checked the driver in Remich. He tested positive for alcohol and his driving licence was confiscated.
At roughly the same time, police were informed of a vehicle in Wasserbillig that had crashed into a tree and a toilet at a construction site. Here too, the alcohol test returned a positive result and officers confiscated the driver’s licence.
At around 12.45am, another motorist was spotted driving erratically on the A1 motorway. He was stopped and checked, and his licence was immediately confiscated after he tested positive for alcohol.
At 4.30am on Sunday, a police patrol in Greiveldange noticed a driver repeatedly revving the engine of his vehicle loudly. When officers stopped and checked him, he initially claimed he had not consumed any alcohol. However, the alcohol test returned a positive result, as did a drug test. His driving licence was confiscated.
Finally, in Esch-sur-Alzette, police encountered two drivers who had fallen asleep at the wheel, one at around 5.45am and another at about 6.30am. Both had consumed too much alcohol and their driving licences were confiscated accordingly.
