The municipality of Esch-sur-Sûre has advised of an increased fire risk due to the dry ground and the warm weather. Barbecues and other fires are now strictly forbidden at the beaches around the Upper Sûre Lake, known locally as the Stauséi.
Municipal authorities have appealed to the public to follow the rules and avoid any behaviour which could potentially start a wildfire.
The municipality has engaged additional security personnel from the Dussmann security company to monitor visitors and ensure the rules are adhered to.
Further measures are planned but still need to be assessed, including towing away incorrectly parked vehicles that could obstruct emergency services' access to the site.
