The car crash occurred on Sunday morning just after 5am on the A1 motorway in the direction of Trier (Germany) near the Potaschberg exit.

A driver lost control of his vehicle when he tried to avoid hitting an animal that had wandered onto the motorway. The car started skidding and veered off the main road onto the shoulder. He vehicle hit a small mound, which caused it to flip several times.

Shocked but largely uninjured, the driver managed to extricate himself from his heavily damaged vehicle. He was nevertheless taken to the hospital for a routine check.

After the spectacular crash, the car was a write-off. The motorway had to be closed for a while as is was being cleared and cleaned up.

Emergency services from Grevenmacher and Biwer were at the scene, as well as employees of the roads and bridges department (Ponts&Chaussées) from Potaschberg.
