At around 3.30am, a police patrol in the Clausen neighbourhood of Luxembourg City noticed a car that repeatedly swerved onto the pavement and only barely avoided crashing into the police car itself. During the check, it quickly turned out that the driver was inebriated. While the motorist was unable to show the officers his licence, it was still withdrawn on the spot. A complaint was also filed against the man.

At 4am, another motorist was caught speeding in Avenue de la Liberté near the central railway station. A police patrol pursued the driver, who at first did not react to the blue lights and sirens. He finally stopped his car in Rue Dicks. A breathalyser test came back positive, and the driving licence was withdrawn. As his car insurance had also expired, the officers also filed a complaint against the man.

Shortly after 5am, a driver was caught speeding near Glacis. On Route d’Arlon, the officers started suspecting that the motorist may be racing against another driver. Both vehicles were pulled over and both drivers lost their licences.

At 6am, a driver stood out to a police patrol on Boulevard J.F. Kennedy in Esch-sur-Alzette due to his reckless driving style. The motorist turned out to be inebriated. The officers withdrew his driving licence and filed a complaint against the man.

Noise complaints in Ettelbruck – tyre of police vehicle punctured

Due to noise complaints from neighbours, the police were sent to forcefully close a bar in Ettelbruck on early Saturday morning. This was done on the orders of the mayor in accordance with police law. Several patrols were involved in this forced closure. The police report that the bar had a lot of customers.

Some of the customers alongside the bar owner refused to let the police enter the establishment. The bar owner tore every document the police handed to him to shreds. In their bulletin, the police describe the atmosphere as “extremely tense”. The officers ultimately left to de-escalate the situation.

The police announced that they will file a complaint for excessive noise, insulting of officials, threats, and violations of the bar and restaurant code as well as several other infractions. Among other things, a tyre of a police vehicle was punctured.

The police report two dozen more cases of noise complaints, aimed both against private residences and bars. In most cases, the situation could be resolved peacefully on site.
