Licenses suspendedDrunk drivers knock over road signs, park in the middle of the road, and rush through red lights

Several drunk drivers were forced to hand over their driver's license to police on Saturday night.

The first incident of the night took place in Grundhof around 8.15 pm. Oil on the road attracted the attention of the police. A driver had knocked over a road sign and tried to take off. He tested positive for alcohol.

Around 1.30 am, a taxi driver alerted police to a car that was parked in the middle of the street on Rue des 3 Cantons in Dippach. The driver of the car told police that he had hit the pavement, which, according to him, broke the front axle. An alcohol test came back positive.

Another driver sped through a red light in Lallange around 2.45 am. She was also found to be under the influence.

Around 4.20 am, a van driver hit a tree on the CR337 near Troisvierges. The man suffered injuries but managed to free himself out of the damaged vehicle. An ambulance brought him to the hospital, where it became clear that he had also been drinking  before getting behind the wheel.

Another driver was speeding excessively on Route d'Arlon in Strassen shortly before 5 am when police pulled him over. The alcohol test came back positive.

Shortly later, a driver's erratic driving style on Avenue de la Liberté in Niederkorn attracted the attention of the police. He was also under the influence.
