
Shortly before 5pm on Tuesday, police were alerted to a traffic accident in Oetrange, where a woman had crashed her car into a post. She was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Following the accident, the Montée d'Oetrange road was blocked.
Police said on Tuesday evening that officers inspecting the damaged vehicle had discovered what turned out to be a dummy grenade, as well as three canisters containing an unidentified liquid.
A security perimeter was subsequently established, several houses were evacuated and the nearby railway line was temporarily closed.
The bomb disposal unit of the police special forces, along with the army's bomb disposal service, were called to the scene to carry out further checks.
Shortly after 7pm, the alert was lifted and all security measures were removed.
