
During the night from Saturday to Sunday, police conducted a large-scale alcohol check in the capital. Between 10.30 p.m. and 3.30 a.m., they stopped a total of 194 motorists, out of whom ten were fined. In four cases, officers were forced to revoke the driving license at the scene.
Police also revoked the licenses of three further drink drivers in Colmar-Berg, Mersch, and Heisdorf.
At 4.00 p.m. on Saturday, a police patrol on the N10 between Huettermuehle and Stadtbredimus was met by an oncoming driver who crossed over to the opposing lane. Officers stopped the car and found the driver to be intoxicated, which is why they revoked his license.
At 7.00 p.m., an accident took place between Grousbous and Grevels. A motorist came off the road and grazed a tree. He then managed to get his car back on the road, but in the process collided with an oncoming car and broke off its side mirror. This impact lead to the car coming off the road again and crashing into a second tree. The driver, who was drunk at the time, suffered light injuries. Police revoked his license.
Around 8.00 p.m., witnesses alerted the police to a reckless motorcyclist in Lintgen, who still attempted to drive after having fallen over twice already. Upon arrival, officers found that the man was drunk and lacked valid papers for the motorcycle. They revoked his license at the scene.
At 3.45 a.m. on Sunday, a police patrol in Weiler-la-Tour witnessed a speeding driver coming their way. Officers pursuit the vehicle and stopped it at a car park. The motorist admitted to being drunk right away, which was confirmed by a positive test result. Officers also revoked the license in this case.
