The police's press service told RTL upon inquiry that a search was held in the Alzette river near Walferdange. Police officers dispatched CGDIS frogmen/combat divers to search the river late on Wednesday morning to follow a potential lead.
The search action was halted on Wednesday afternoon without success. Peiffer was reported missing a week ago, with police re-releasing their missing person alert after several days.
