
If a second indexation is to be moved, Dury said both the government and trade unions would have to negotiate once again. He clarified that compensatory measures have been agreed as part of the decision to move August’s indexation to next April, including tax credits for small and medium incomes in particular.
Dury stressed that the tripartite would need to re-negotiate terms if more than one index tranche is to be delayed.
RTL asked Dury if he thought it was normal for Prime Minister Xavier Bettel to join the 1 May festivities in Remich, organised by the LCGB union. He replied that for years, a CSV prime minister had joined the demonstrations, which had also drawn comments at the time. However, Dury praised Bettel for participating and added that other politicians from different parties had also been present at the Labour Day celebrations. He also added he had other concerns than the presence of prominent politicians at family festivities.
