On Monday, the final report of donations to the victims of the storm was published in a joint statement by the municipalities of Pétange and Bascharage.
The local organisations "Käerjeng hëlleft" ("Bascharage helps") and "Fir e gudden Zweck - Gemeng Péiteng" (For a good cause - municipality of Pétange") managed to collect a combined sum of €1,025,619.42. Donations were sent in from all across the Grand Duchy after the storm caused havoc.
The Pétange association received 1,746 donations, out of which 79 were over €1,000, while the Bascharage association collected 1,737 donations, with 84 being over €1,000.
A committee was thus established to decide on how the donations should best be allocated. Last year in June, first payments to the victims of the storm were made. At the moment, €980,000 have already been transferred.
