In September last year, Grand Duke Henri already paid a visit to the new building of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) to inspect the ongoing construction work. Several administrative branches of the emergency services have by now either moved to the new centre in Gasperich, or are still expected to do so. The building is thus intended to become a veritable headquarters for CGDIS members.
Once the Luxembourg City fire brigade has left their old premisses and moved into the new barracks, the centre will be considered fully operational. The transition process is scheduled for July and is usually a formal event during which the vehicles of the fire brigade all simultaneously move from the old barracks to the new ones. First responders are expected to move in by October.
From a geographical perspective, the location of the new centre is not ideal. To tackle this problem, a number of vehicles will be stationed near Findel airport, from which they have quicker access to the areas around Kirchberg, Neudorf, Findel, and Senningerberg.

For the time being, a team will still stay at the current barracks on Route d'Arlon. In July, 52 vehicles from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps are then expected to move into the new centre in Gasperich. The building will allow for six simultaneous deployments of vehicles.
