Cautious optimismFirst signs of economic recovery detectable, says Pierre Gramegna

RTL Today
On Monday, the Minister of Finance addressed the Chamber's financial commission and expressed cautious optimism about the country's economic situation.

At the end of February, government revenue amounted to €3.4 billion, which represents a 3.8% increase compared to the year before, even though the pandemic had not yet fully impacted the country at the time.

Customs on the other hand has registered a decrease of about 18%. The reasons for this tendency are reduced travel and the new CO2 tax, officials note. Compared to 2020, spending has increased by 1.6% during the first two months of the year.

Minister Gramegna concluded that all signs point towards a slow yet steady turning of the tide.
