The prosecutor’s office commissioned two traffic checks, which police carried out on Route de Longwy, Route de Thionville, and Route d’Arlon from 11pm on Saturday to 4am on Sunday. Officers stopped a total of 172 motorists across the three locations. Eight tested positive for alcohol, out of whom two had their license revoked at the scene.
Around 9pm on Saturday, a police patrol in Bascharage witnessed a reckless driver crossing on to the opposing lane on Rue de Hautcharage. Officers stopped and tested the man for alcohol. The result showed almost double of the permitted level, which is why police revoked the driving license at the scene.
Shortly after midnight, police were alerted to a reckless motorist driving on the A1 motorway, direction of Wasserbillig. Officers stopped the driver and subjected him to an alcohol test, which came back positive. The license was revoked at the scene.
