The government now officially recommends a fourth dose of the Covid vaccine for people aged 60 and over, as well as people who are particularly vulnerable to the virus due to health conditions.

The decision was taken on Friday to ensure continuous protection against more severe illness caused by the virus.

The fourth dose should be administered at least four months after the third booster, and will consist of an mRNA vaccine.

The recommendation comes just two days after the government rejected a group of experts’ call for a vaccine mandate for over-50s.
Invitations will be issued by post once again, while those concerned can be vaccinated at the Victor Hugo Hall vaccine centre until 13 August, or at their local GP surgery or pharmacy. A list of doctors and nurses offering the jab can be found on the impfen.lu website, which also supplies details of the “Impfbus” mobile vaccine unit.

Specialised support is also available via the Ministry of Health helpline on (+352) 247 65533.
