
In the video, Minister Fayot speaks about the repercussions from the pandemic and those from the war in Ukraine, noting that the government introduced support measures to counteract uncertainty in each case. He expresses his belief that the tripartite agreement builds on solidarity and “fairness”.
The politician from the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) also thinks that the chosen measures will not only help strengthen the economy, but further support the spending power of the people who need it most.
He also addresses adjustments to the index mechanism, explaining that the government has regularly revisited the measure over the course of the past two decades. He ensures that the tool itself is not being questioned, but that changes had to be made to give employers planing reliability for the coming two years.
Minister Fayot concludes his Labour Day message with the following words: “1 May is the day of solidarity, and I wish all of you the best on this day.”
