In Portugal, the number of new infections are on the rise again.

As of Tuesday, flights and bus routes between Germany and Portugal have been cancelled anew.

As of Tuesday afternoon, some scheduled flights were still operating between Germany and Portugal. Government rules allow German residents and citizens to re-enter the country.

However, people returning from holidays or other trips to Portugal will have to quarantine for 14 days, even if they have been vaccinated or tested negative.

Last week, Portugal averaged 1,400 new infections per day. Especially in Lisbon, the delta variant has strengthened its presence, now making up more than 70% of new infections.

Luxembourg continues to monitor the situation, but has not yet planned any travel restrictions. Health officials emphasise that they want to keep borders open at all costs. However, the delta variant is currently spreading all over Europe. In the Grand Duchy, the rate of the variant is at 35%, according to data reported by Dr Jean-Claude Schmit from the Health Directorate.

In the meantime, the European Union has lifted restrictions on a number of third-party countries. For instance, as of Monday, US Americans are allowed to travel to the Grand Duchy again.
