Ahead of state of the nation speechGovernment has 'missed opportunity' to make country future-orientated: Mouveco

Ahead of Xavier Bettel's state of the nation speech next Tuesday, Mouvevo (Ecological Movement) and its president, Blanche Weber, have launched a blistering attack on the prime minister, asking if he plans to move to the future with blinkers on.

Weber described Bettel's speech in front of the United Nations General Assembly last week as especially unwordly, taking issue with Bettel presenting Luxembourg as an exemplary country when it comes to curbing climate change. As Weber said, members of Mouveco can only shake their heads when they see Bettel posturing on an international stage.

Mouveco demands the government show more drive in ensuring a future for the next generation, in particular calling for a 'necessary system change'. The group's leadership is utterly unsatisfied with the government's work. As Weber said, the government has absolutely 'missed their opportunity' to make the country more sustainable and future-orientated in their first year in office. Equally, Weber added, the government has failed to demand necessary reforms on a European level.

Scathingly, the Ecological Movement concluded that the government would not achieve the Paris Climate Agreement goals with such gimmickry as the UN speech.
