The hotel business in crisisGovernmental support insufficient to fend off ongoing expenses

RTL Today
The pandemic has created a gridlock in the entire sector.

The crisis is continuing to take a massive toll on traditional establishments like Leweck, Cravat, or Hôtel de la Sûre in Esch-sur-Sûre. Under current restrictions, all weddings, seminars, and reservations had to be cancelled, and the hotel business is left with an uncertain future.

Expenses are continuing to run without the usual profits to balance out the costs. There is also a lack of perspective on how to kickstart the industry again after the end of the confinement, or any indication on when borders will open again, which would allow tourists to visit the Grand Duchy again.

When asked by RTL, three business owners expressed their desire for a governmental support that would cover non-wage labour costs.
