Pension fund investmentsGreenpeace case against Minister of Social Security dismissed, but state must cover fees

RTL Today
Greenpeace's case against Minister of Social Security Romain Schneider was ultimately dismissed by the administrative court in the ruling on Tuesday.

Whilst the presiding judge ruled that Greenpeace's case was not justified, the environmental organisation has described the results of the legal dispute as a 'partial success'.

Greenpeace had taken Schneider to court for continuing to invest pension funds into damaging fossil fuel corporations and refusing to provide information on the matter.

However, ultimately the court ruled that there is no legal basis for the minister to adhere to the Paris Climate Agreement commitments in his remit as Minister of Social Security.

Nevertheless, the court ruled that the state must cover the legal fees in the dispute.
