The architectural tour ("promenade architecturale") took history buffs from the Grand Ducal Palais in the centre of the city to the Place du Théâtre, through the Grande-Rue and finally to the former post office on Aldringen.
Robert Philippart has been working as a Luxembourg City architectural tour guide for the past 11 years. The historian enjoys passing on his passion for history and knowledge about the city's development to other people.
Until 2015, Philippart was also the director of the Luxembourg National Tourist Office for 22 years.
Today, he enjoys showing visitors around Luxembourg City and explaining the city's rich architectural history to them.
Philippart's guided tour mainly explained the role of neo-renaissance architecture to interested visitors. For a long time, the neo-renaissance style was the preferred style for Luxembourg's public buildings due to its clear and sober lines that were supposed to be a reflection of the nobility of public office.
