TransportHesperange bypass to be constructed without a tunnel

RTL Today
On Thursday evening, Minister for Mobility François Bausch presented the Hesperange and Alzingen bypass project at an information event.

Only four variants of the project, of which there were six at the beginning, were retained. The tunnel solution ended up being eliminated, as it was seen as unfeasible from a technical point of view. A one-month public consultation will be held in autumn and the final decision will be taken by the State Council.

According to the minister, the main aim is to restore the quality of life in Hesperange, a town that is constantly evolving and through which 22,400 cars pass every day.

In addition, a shared space is to be created in the town centre. This is a major project that could start at the beginning of 2024. Bausch stated that he even has hopes that it might be possible to pass the necessary budget during the current legislature.
