Shortly after 1.00 p.m. on Monday, a car was reported stolen in Ettelbruck.

45 minutes later, that same vehicle was involved in an accident in Route de Diekirch in Helmsange. Both culprits fled the scene towards Rue des Pommiers afterwards and are still on the run.

The police has issued a safety advice that drivers in the Helmsange area should not give anybody a lift. Suspicious activities can be communicated to the police via 113.

The following suspect description was issued: a white male aged 18 to 20, about 180 cm tall, short hair, and wearing red shorts. Another white male, about the same height, same age, same hair, wearing black shorts, and a white t-shirt.

The police further announced that another hit-and-run took place in Esch-sur-Alzette early on Monday morning. Around 7.40 a.m., officers wanted to stop a man who violated the traffic code in Rue Sidney Thomas.

The driver fled the scene, at times driving at more than 100 km/h and ignoring red lights. The escape was initially thought to be over when the man caused an accident in a roundabout, during which he lost control over his vehicle.

However, the man's adventure continued as he went on to flee on foot. Officers were finally able to stop him in Rue Henri Koch. It turned out that the car was neither insured nor registered.
