On Wednesday the Ministry of the Environment published a statement confirming the investigation led by the Water Management Administration (AGE) had not been able to formally identify the waste substances in the water, or their origin.
Regarding the latest incident on 15 June, the Ministry questioned the rainwater pipeline leading into the river from the industrial zone. This system is solely designed to transport rainwater.
Due to the involvement of the emergency services, police and AGE, the company concerned finally informed the Water Management Administration on 16 June that the pollution was the result of a leak from a waste container holding the remains of personal care products.
The company has been charged with drawing up a report on the incident and must put measures in place to avoid future pollution.
