The number of new Covid infections experienced a 15% decline last week, going down from 9,550 to 8,110 cases. 22,000 PCR tests were done during that same period, a decrease of 9.49%. 36% came back positive.

Eight people died after having contracted Covid-19. Their average age was 81 years.

24 people are currently hospitalised with the coronavirus. Five of them were unvaccinated, the other 19 were fully vaccinated. Two out of three patients in the ICU were unvaccinated.

Compared to the previous week, the incidence rate per 100,000 residents decreased to 1,278. The highest rate affected the age group under 14. Even though there was a 22% decrease compared to the previous seven days, the rate remained 1,958.

Last week, 1,664 doses of coronavirus vaccines were administered. 97 people received their first jab. The country’s vaccination rate is now at 78.6%.

The weekly report also indicates that the government plans on further facilitating access to vaccines, which health authorities want to achieve with pop-up centres and mobile units. No shortage of jabs is to be expected as Luxembourg received 42,000 new doses last week.
