
On the other hand, Dr Schmit considers the government's plans to supply 30% of the country's doctor's offices with the software necessary for rapid reimbursement by summer 2021 to be "ambitious".
Nevertheless, the convention with the National Health Fund (CNS) is a "first step" towards allowing the digital exchange of documents between doctors and the CNS, the AMMD president stated. Dr Schmit also thinks it is "realistic" to have an instant direct payment system up and running by 2023 and he welcomes the government's plans to make the lives of patients easier.
According to Dr Schmit, the new system on one hand guarantees doctors' therapeutic freedom while also ensuring that patients do not pay more than what is stipulated in the statutes of the CNS. The AMMD will offer informational events on the topic to doctors in the near future.
