High volumes of people headed to Lake Haute-Sûre to cool off amid the ongoing heatwave, resulting in unusually crowded beaches in the municipality of Esch-sur-Sûre, with the beaches in Lultzhausen, Burfelt, and Insenborn among the busiest.
According to witnesses on the ground, car parks have reached capacity and police are stepping up checks to identify illegally parked vehicles.
The municipality is also urging residents to avoid the area for the time being, both for safety reasons and to prevent worsening traffic congestion.
