
Dury explained that digitalisation is a fact of our lives, but must not become a societal ditch for employees.
The LCGB is calling for a precise legal framework for new forms of work, including remote work. In terms of legislative changes, the trade union also believes that social security legislation must be adapted to reflect the increasingly digital state of work. Employers must also supply employees with the required technological tools, such as mobile phones for work purposes.
The trade union also stressed the need for employees' private lives to be protected: employees must not be monitored during their time off and have the right to turn their phones and computers off once they are done with work.
The LCGB also believes that employees have the right to have continuous training in terms of digital matters. The trade union also stressed that if digitalisation causes an improvement in productivity, then employers need to be open to the idea of reducing working hours.
