Minister of Home Affairs Léon Gloden has confirmed that the government is working to increase state support for Luxembourg Air Rescue by around 40%, in response to a parliamentary question from MP Marc Goergen of the Pirate Party.
Luxembourg Air Rescue, the non-profit organisation involved in emergency rescue operations by air, receives state funding for its operational cooperation with the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS).
This subsidy is defined in an agreement signed on 14 November 2023 between the Luxembourg state and Luxembourg Air Rescue, in line with the 2018 law on the organisation of civil security.
According to Gloden, the planned increase is intended to help cover the exceptional costs currently faced by Luxembourg Air Rescue, including higher kerosene prices.
